Jogdial
Not much to really say about this thing, its the little wheel on the right side edge of the Picture book, thats somewhat like a mouse wheel. The real surprise was thats its actually supported under Linux, since 2.4.7 and the inclusion of the sonypi driver. Now as you can guess you need the sonypi driver installed and functional before you can use the Jogdial, I cover this installation on my sonypi page. So once you have that installed you can move onto the actual Jogdial support software.
Jogdiald software
At this point you have the sonypi driver installed and configured, you now need something to use it with. I did extensive investigation on this one and ended up with jogdiald which was the most functional and flexible that I found, and better than that did not need anything other than X, Gnome, KDE etc are not needed. So jogdiald is the only app that I am talking about here. The links for this are.
Some things you need to know before continuing.
- To build from source you need to have the 2.4.9 or better Kernel source installed.
- I have not tested or plan to do anything with the RPM
Functionality
There are two main functions to jogdiald, the first is to use the Jogdial wheel as a mouse wheel, yes just like the usual PC wheel mouse. The second is to provide a customizable popup menu triggered by pressing the Jogdial wheel, this popup menu contains plugins that can do more or less anything.
