Cheap-o-Scope is a small utility that will convert Quicktime movies into Adobe Filmstrip files and also convert Adobe Filmstrip files back into Quicktime movies. Adobe Filmstrip files are recognized by Photoshop and probably other image editing files (it's just a sequence of raw RGB image data). Adobe Premiere will also import them, but if you're using iMovie, you'll need to convert. Filmstrip is a good format for doing rotoscoping and animation work if you don't have the money for a separate rotoscoping product. [more]

DVDBackup

DVDBackup is intended to let you exercise your "fair use" rights under copyright law to either "time-shift" or "space-shift" DVD content which you may have purchased legitimately. An example of time-shifting would be to temporarily store the data from a DVD you rented so as to watch it at a later time after you have returned the disc (and avoided late fees!). An example of space-shifting would be to copy one or more DVD discs to your laptop hard drive so as to watch them while on a long airplane flight. A final usage of DVDBackup would be to allow you to modify or excerpt sections of DVD video and audio to create your own movies. [more]

DVD Imager can be used to make a burnable DVD video image file from a DVD video disk that you have made using iDVD or other means. Mac OS X 10.2 is required. Just drop any VIDEO_TS folder onto its icon, click Create, and choose the location where you want the image saved. Destination should be on a local volume. DVD Imager will prompt you to name the image volume, then it will create the disk image and quit. If you have a DVD burner, you should then be able to create a new DVD disk from the image you made with DVD Imager using the Burn Image command in Disk Copy. DVD Imager doesn't have the ability to defeat commercial DVD video copy protection methods. DVD Imager is an Apple script Studio GUI wrapper for Jorg Schilling's mkisofs binary executable. [more]

I have been using this player for quite a while now under Linux with zero problems, and under OSX all my tests have shown it to be about as good as it gets for Video players. To learn more about this player, read my in depth review. Highly recommended. [more]
